Staining Pine Furniture- what if I have gotten the stain too heavy and now it is tacky and uneven?
I stained my pine table top and forgot to wipe off the extra stain. Now it looks uneven and kind of shalac. what can I do at this point to fix before I apply the polyurethane to get it even and smooth?
Not alot you can do. Stain has dyed the wood and you can’t undo that. If anything you add more stain to take it all to the darkest level. The varnish will not even it out.
